Brian Day

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & VISUAL MEDIA / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

- Brian Day -
Director of Marketing & Visual Media
-Catching Specialty Instructor, Webmaster & Coach-

Brian has had a passion for baseball and has been around the game since the age of 4. Brian received instruction early on from his father, along with well known players like Nolan Ryan, Mark McLemore, Mike Jeffcoat, Jim Sundberg, Ivan Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. and Bob Gross. Brian’s ties to the game run deep in the family as he is the grandson of the late Sam Classe, who played from 1938-42 for the Shreveport Sports, Montreal Royals & the Brooklyn Dodgers before he went off to war. He is also the cousin of the current First Base Coach of the Toronto Blue Jays, Torey Lovullo. Torey played 8 seasons in the majors as well as Latin America, Japan and has been coaching professionally since 2001 with the Indians & Blue Jays.
During school, Brian was consistently recognized as a scholar athlete which started at a young age and was 1 of a select few in his school chosen by Duke University to be a part of their TIP Program. With a tremendous amount of effort, Brian went through school with a stellar grade point average and was included the “Who’s Who of American High School Students 32nd Edition”. While attending High School, Brian was heavily involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a mentor to young athletes in the DFW area. Brian attended Collin College where he pursued Business Management & Finance as well as Graphic Design.

As an athlete, Brian lettered in Baseball, Football and Track & Field. He is also considered an extremely competitive golfer and is good friends with Hunter Mahan, a current PGA Golfer and old high school friend. In football, Brian played Cornerback & Strong Safety on Defense, Wide Receiver on Offense and was also the Kicker growing up at all levels.

As a baseball player, Brian was an accomplished and solid switch-hitter with speed on the bases. He had a very lively arm as a pitcher/catcher combo who was known for his extremely quick hands, feet & pop times with velocity peaking at 93mph. Brian early on learned an extensive amount of what it takes to be a great ball player, but more importantly, a great teammate and field general. Brian has experienced success at the highest levels from the age of 11-16 as a State & World Series Tournament Champion all the way up up into the professional level. In 1996 while in highschool, Brian was in a near fatal car accident where he suffered a hemopneumothorax (punctured lung), fractured ribs, internal bleeding and had very brief paralysis of his lower body which derailed him for about 6 months, but several months of therapy thereafter brought him back. Unfortunately, after high school while Brian was playing in the minors for a short period, his playing career was cut short due to an off-season injury in 2001. In 2003, Brian attempted a comeback, but in 2004, injuries kept him from playing further. During the 2004 off-season, Brian was invited to Spring Training in 2005 by the Texas Rangers, but wasn’t able to attend due to injury. Through his injury-plagued playing career, Brian has played with Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, Jason Jennings, Choo Freeman, Rodrick Sneed, Blake Justice, Lance Hayes, Chris Young, Scott Hairston, Laynce Nix, Kelly Shoppach, Greg Vaughn, Dustin Moseley, Conor Jackson, Cody Ross and the late Brian Hickman just to name a few.

Brian has been around the baseball for over 26 years and has always had a passion for the game. That passion now carries over to his instruction and the mentoring of youth baseball players in his native area of the Dallas/Ft. Worth. His goal now is to teach young driven athletes the mental aspects of the game while enhancing their physical attributes. Brian has been instructing with Darin Spassoff in Select Baseball in recent years and has shared the success with other organizations prior to joining the Dallas Dodgers in 2011. Brian currently is the Co-Founder of a Computer Hardware Company that specializes in Custom Media Systems for Businesses and Consumers. Brian and his wife Marissa, a local photographer, along with their 2 children, Braylen & Mila reside in Rowlett by the Lake.
