The Dodgers 15U 2011 Summer Season has officially concluded. It has been a successful season for the team and players individually. Darin, the entire coaching staff and the team administrators of the Dallas Dodgers Baseball Club has enjoyed working you and your player this season.

We have some housekeeping and forward planning items to cover for the season.

Team Schedule for Week of 07-17-2011

Even though our 15U season is officially over, Coach Darin is extending to all the current 15U players, the opportunity to work out with the 18U team this coming week. This is voluntary, but highly recommended practice offer. The voluntary team schedule is listed below:

07-19-2011 Tuesday 6:00PM – 7:30PM Indoor Hitting at Dodger Facility

07-20-2011 Wednesday 5:30PM – 7:30PM Field Practice at Parr Park

Wednesday 7:30PM – 9:00PM STEAM at Parr Park

Team Meeting – Season Wrap Up

Coach Darin wants to schedule a 15U team meeting as part of our 2011 Season wrap up. I know a number of families have planned vacations the last week of July (24^th) and Darin is finishing the 18U’s games next weekend. I propose the closing season team meeting for:

Tuesday at 7:30PM on August 2^nd at the Dodgers indoor facility

Topics will include:

· Coach will recap the season with parents and players (question/answer)

· Review fall program plans (development program for our players, tournaments, etc – see below for a preview)

· Distribute an evaluation sheet for the parents to confidentially evaluate the organization and the coach

· New plans for Dodgers facilities

Proposed Fall 2011 Season Details

Preparation for the fall 2011 season has begun. Club tryouts for all age groups will be held on the following dates:

· Saturday July 30^th at Grapevine High School (details to be announced)

· Saturday August 6^th at Nimitz High School in Irving (details to be announced)

All returning players must attend at least one (1) of the above Saturday tryouts.

A team scrimmage will be played on Sunday August 8^th (details to come) and we would like all current Dodgers to attend so we can re-evaluate and benchmark newly interested players, as well as give the boys extra practice and game time.

Summary of Fall Program

1) All current 15U Dallas Dodgers players will be invited to join the Fall 2011 - 16U Dallas Dodgers.

2) Coach Darin Spassoff will be returning as head coach.

3) Fall 2011 Dallas Dodgers program will be a development program.

The fall program is designed to complement, not compete with the fall high school baseball or football programs. Every effort will be made to schedule practices around the non-UIL high school team practices and games.

4) Player commitment are for a Fall-to-Spring period.

5) The fall format will be:

a. Tournament dates to be determined and announced at the team meeting

b. Two (2) weekly practices beginning the week of August 29th

6) Please let Darin or Rick know if you plan on returning to the team no later than July 29th

As always – it has been a pleasure this season and look forward to a start of another exciting year!
